Captive metamorphing Dicamptodon?

How many people have metamorphed Dicamptodon larvae in captivity? Is there any good methods for little amount of stress? Is there any good articles on this subject?

I have never done it personally, but have friends who have. You need to keep them very cool (mid sixties or below) and provide plenty of room, plenty of hiding places, and plenty of food. These animals are highly aggressive and will tear eachother apart. Metamorphosis can take as long as two years if starting with small larva....

I have a larvae, and I keep the water at 60 degrees. It was fairly big when I got it and I have had it for a year. It seems to have no intrest in metamorphing.
 
I just caught a wild larva at a friend's cabin in Nor Cal. it is quite small (about 2 inches)

I was going to feed it live brine shrimp... is this appropriate?
any advice as far as diet?

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
