I have 2 CFB´s in a tank, and about 2 months ago I added 2 physa acuta, mainly to get rid of algae. Now while in the other tank I took them from they reproduce like crazy(full of young snails), no young snails in the newt tank, the interesting part is that there are a lot of snail eggs in with the newts, also clearly hatched clutches.Could it be the newts eat the young physa snails?

Newts have been known to eat small snails, so I'll bet that is what's happening. Supplemental protein.

But my CFB never do that. Is it because you are not feeding enough?

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
