Hello!
I usually feed my axolotls with axo pellets, earthworms, crickets and chicken hearts.
They are simply mad about the hearts, they go crazy when they sent it on the water.
Now my question: Does anybody knows if it is harmfull?
Like raw liver, they can have an overdosis of Vitamin A and develop liver disease.
I know that they can grow obese if you give them too much chicken heart.
I've never had any problem with it, but I wish to know if you have any information on this.
Thank you

YOu should watch out how much you feed. HOw may times a week are you feeding it and how much?

I've been feeding the juveniles everyday, and the adults on alternate days.

But the chicken heart I use twice a week... do you think it is too much?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
