Hi,
I am adding a 20 gallon tank to my set up. I currenty have a 40 gallon and 55 gallon, both on 1/10th HP Active aqua chillers that keep the water in the 60-64 range depending on how warm the room is. I am looking for a reliable chiller to keep a 20 gallon tank in that range, in a room that is in the 70-72F staring range. The Active aquas are pricey and seem like overkill for a smaller tank. That being said I am a stickler about keeping the temps down and don't want to stress about it.
Thanks for any tried and true recommendations!

Curious about this as well. I have a 20 gallon with just a fan-style chiller I bought on Amazon for like $30, which does a decent job at keeping temps around 66F, but I do worry about the summer months when the ambient temp starts creeping up.

Curious if you came up with anything? I need a chiller or something. It's starting to get quite warm here and the tank water is warming too.

Doesn't look like OP is following this anymore, but it's been extremely hot here and my fan-style chiller has still been able to keep up with the heat.

Thanks. I've been reading through older threads trying to get an idea of what will work for my 20 gal tank. Got a double fan arriving today so hoping that will do the trick. Have been using a small fan and floating some frozen water bottles in the meantime.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
