Chinese Fire Belly Newt Issue

I'm going to try that tonight. Should I take the water out of the tank? And also if he climbs up the side should I take him down or leave him?

Leave it, and keep the water but to a minimal amount, try to disturb it as little as possible

Okay so I kept some bloodworms with him in his tank last night and put it in the closet. He didn't eat anything :/

Frozen bloodworms probably aren't going to be taken unless they're being moved with tongs or are underwater, not to mention they foul the water very quickly. Try earthworms instead

I tried using tweezers and leaving them in the water. I will dig up more worms later and try leaving some with him.

For anyone who has been interested in this lil guy, Jerome finally ate today! I dug up a nice worm from my garden and cut three pieces off of it. I left them on a rock and put him in the closet and when I checked on him about an hour and a half later, they were gone! Thanks to everyone who has given me advice, I'm so glad he's finally eaten, it is a big weight off of my chest.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
