I noticed today that our axolotl had some ridges in his tail. I can't see if they're there in older pictures.. Is that a problem?

Sorry for the blurry photos, I didn't have access to my tripod.. Anyway Steve seems otherwise fine. He swims around and eats normally... Is he alright? I feel like a paranoid mother lol..

Does he have a tank mate? Many times they'll take chunks out of each other, but it's usually not a problem.

You'll find most axies will have ragged tails like this if they have tank buddies. It will either heal, or just stay jaggered

Nope, no tank mates. Just him is a big 'ol tank. He was housed with other axolotls before we got him, but I didn't notice the damage until recently. I don't remember him having the damage.

Hmm, maybe he damaged himself once. Is there something sharp in the tank? Might be a possible cause.
