Churro

What a Cutie Patootie :D

Thank you :D

Is he unusual for a melanoid? His mum is a grey melanoid and his dad is a dark green wild type with similar green splotches. Churro seems to take after them both!

He might look similar to one of mine :)

I love the green splotches :)

Oh wow he really does! I hope he keeps his green spots they look brilliant. Your axolotl is fantastic :)

Some really nicely marked axolotls being posted recently. Is there any end to the variations these guys can exhibit? Thanks for posting.

Regards Neil

I love the first picture- looks like he's practising ballet. Do you know anything about his parents? Churro's parents must both carry the melanoid gene and also the albino gene as they also produced a golden albino.

Nikki what does your axolotl look like when he is not under a light? I took Churro out of his tank and he is almost jet black!

Yes my one has also gone very dark

In this pic I was comparing size to see if they could share a tank - the one on the right is the darker one

Post more pics of churro :)

awww so cute, love seeing all these colour variations..

Did you put them in together in the end? The size difference looks ok to me. Churro seems to be getting darker by the minute and I'm pretty sure his green splotches are disappearing. Will post more pictures as soon as I get some more decent ones. Can't believe how quickly he is growing!!

For some reason it's not letting me post pictures or contact admin about it....?

Here's another picture of Churro taken a couple of weeks ago. In the last few days I've noticed his green splotches have almost gone... will try and get some more pictures of him :)

It's a shame the green seems to fade - but your Churro is still a good looking guy & he certainly looks healthy :D

Squishy is getting darker by the day too - these two could be bros ;)

here's a few more taken just now :) the amount of green seems to differ depending on which camera I use....

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
