Today I noticed that my axolotl has a clear tail tip that looks like it's eroding - it's moving freely around the end and looks a bit torn. I've attached the best photos I could take. He has always had a little bit of clear tissue at the end but there seems to be much more than usual.
His appetite has been fine but he has been a little more agitated than usual and has been floating quite a lot. I've done a couple of water changes over the last few days to try to help but I think something may be wrong.
Any ideas? I just tested the water and the only thing that's off is the nitrite, which makes me think maybe I changed too much water?!
