Hello all, I posted last week for advise about my axie having fungus on his gills. He has been tubbed now since last Friday. He was given 2 salt baths per day for 4 days, 2 tsp of aquatic salt per litre, 3 litres per bath. I change his tub water 12 hourly. He is still in the tub, and had a further 2 days of 1 bath per day.
I can’t see anything on his gills that looks like it could be removed or that appears loose. His Gill stalk is still looking white at the tip though. He is eating, pooping and otherwise active. The tub temp is sitting at 18° consistently. Can anyone advise if he still looks to have fungus or if there’s likely another explanation for the white stalk tip?
Any advice appreciated 🙂

From what you described, I would say that, depending on how old he is, it's possible that the remaining whiteness is part of the natural coloration that made an appearance at an inconvenient time. I would recommend backing off on the salt baths (but definitely continue the water changes) and see if anything changes.

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
