Does anyone know of anything that can drop the temperature in the tank. Not the water really but the air inside the tanks. If you know of anything please tell me.
Thanks,
Andrew

I sit mine by a window and cool it with frozen water bottles...

Andrew,

For home-brewing beer I converted a freezer into a temperature controlled fermenter unit with nothing more than a temperature controller. (Johnson Controls has one that will turn on/off an outlet and has a control band of +/- 2 degrees F)

I put the probe in the freezer, turn the freezer to it's max setting, and plug the freezer into the controller. The controller drops the air to the desired temp.

I've often considered setting the freezer to a lower setting and wintering newts in it.... but I live in New England and mother nature provides quite enough seasonal temperature drop.

Now since I doubt you would want your newts in a freezer, perhaps you could home-jobbie a fridge or a freezer to blow temp controlled air into your tank?

Perhaps this is beginning to look a bit too much like a mad scientist approach... If your interested, let me know.

Marcus
