My wee Mudpies tail has a curl at the end. I was told that if the end of the tail is curled then he is stressed. But I don't know why he would be stressed!! His water parameters all within the normal range and he is eating very well. He isn't floating and is swimming well. Please is there anything I am missing??

Are there tank mates? What's the temperature?

He is by himself, he came from a tank with 6 others so maybe he is lonely? I keep the tank at 18degrees

Have you got a photo of him and the tank? Is there a strong water current?

I can't seem to be able to add pictures. I took a water sample to the pet shop in case my tests were out. My nitrite was off (so I bought a new test kit) and have put him in a separate tank while I cycle the water through. The vet said I was over feeding him!!
We don't have out water chlorinated here but I bought some stress coat conditioner + nitrite detoxic stuff.

You can tell if you're over feeding him by looking at the size of his stomach. If his stomach looks wider than his head then he is most likely being over fed. Ideally his stomach needs to be the same width has his head.
