I feel like a horrible person, I was cleaning my baby 'lotls tubs and moving them from one tub to another and somehow, I put the net down right on top of one of my babies. I try to always look and know where they are so this doesn't happen. I don't know if he swam under the net as I was putting it down or if I miscounted somehow, but he ended up having his tail cut right in front of where you can see what I'm guessing is the poop hole (about in half).
He actually had the tail part hanging off of him, but it was only by some skin so I cut it off as he was trying to swim, but unable to move with it hanging there. Maybe that was wrong, I don't know.
I know axolotls can regenerate, but I was wondering what I could do to give him the best chance to make it? I was thinking fridge and India Almond Leaves and/or tea bath? Has anyone else has had a baby with injuries who made it? Or would it be better to put him down? Right now, he is in a tub by himself with just a little water so he can move around easier. I have an India almond leaf in hot water waiting for it to cool and was going to add that as I don't have tea at the moment but will pick some up later.
