My white axolotl has suddenly got a cut on his right arm with the skin balled up like it was coming away ( seems to me like he caught it some how and peeled it back to his 'hand')
EDIT: On closer inspection it doesn't look like a cut, it looks like redness with a swollen 'ball' of skin where his 'wrist' is.

On its own this would make me think "Ah poor thing has hurt himself!!"

But I notice that on 2 of his other 3 limbs he has either a red 'finger' on one hand, and a red speckled mark on another. One side of his tail has red speckles like he has been hit by something on the side.

I don't know what would cause this. I considered water, and changed it, but he is in there with another axolotl who is fine. I considered it might be abuse from her, but if anything HE abused her growing up and they've calmed right down now, there has been no evidence that she has attacked, and from previous experiences with Axolotl I'd expect the limb to come clean off if it was the case to be honest.

I removed a tunnel that has been in there for over a year in case the slightly rough edges to that have caused the issue, but as I say it has been in there so long it seems unlikely it would damage all 5 places at once.

I've taken some pictures which I will post shortly, at the moment he is in a hospital tank with some salt and cold water but I don't know if it is anything more serious?

I have purchased some almond leaves and some melafix, the bottle I have is 10 months out of date  hope he's ok over night in a separate box.

Post some images before you use Melafix, its not tested for Axolotls and over dosing can cause liver issues and other long term problems.

You probably don't need it at all, Axolotls can heal themselves as long as they have the correct living conditions.

is your tank cycled? can you post the test results for Ammonia, Nitrite, NitrAte, and PH ?

Post the images so we can see what the problem is
