Cycling tips+do axolotls need cycling?

I’m going to cycle my axolotls tank, my room gets very hot and so I have fans on my axolotl tank which is perfect, they are two juveniles in a 29 gallon tank, they are being moved into a 55 gallon, I’m going to try and cycle the 55 gallon while the axolotls are in their 29 gallon which is uncycled, they have been living in it since I got them as little babies in April. I’ve been doing water changes every week and a full water change every week, I used sea chem prime, I’m really worried I’m going to mess up the cycling process because my room can get very hot which can throw off the cycling process, I’m worried I’m gonna mess up the process, I didn’t do it earlier because no one really explained it well enough to understand, but I found someone who did and I’m going to order the stuff Friday. I’m going to buy a test kit, liquid ammonia and liquid beneficial bacteria. Any tips for cycling a 55 gallon would be amazing!

I was also wondering if they NEED a cycled tank, I’m going to cycle their tank anyway because I don’t wanna risk hurting them. But I’ve seen people keep axolotls in uncycled tanks, I’ve also heard of this “plant method” which basically the plants in the tank absorb the nitrates kinda cycling the tank, I considered this but I knew it woudnt be the same. So I’m just going to cycle their tank

Hi,

People usually speak about cycling for a filter.
So if you have a filter you need to cycle it. Cycling is a way to get rid of ammonia, converting it to nitrates.

A no-filter option is also possible with a lot of room and a lot of plants (and light of course).
In this case, ammonia is directly uptaken by live aquatic plants.

In any case, axolotls will not be all right if the temperature is too high (> 25°C / 77°F).
