Cynops Appropriate Tank?

I have been thinking of possibly getting some Cynops (either ensicauda or pyrrhogaster), and was curious if this tank would be appropriate for either species.

It’s a 55 gallon river system tank that’s in dire need of some TLC. The original pump isn’t working, but I was planning on replacing it with a canister filter to run the waterfall. The filter I have has a 200 gph flow rate. Would that be too much current for the newts?

All Cynops prefer placid water, so that pump/waterfall may not be a great idea. I think Kaiseri are a better species if you want flowing water (might need to confirm that). Also keep in mind if you are getting juveniles or adults - juveniles prefer land, but eventually become nealy fully aquatic as adults. Might need some better pics to give specific advice for that setup.

Thanks for the advice! I would send more photos, but that’s the only one I have before I started taking it apart for cleaning/trying it to get it back in working condition. When I have it put back together, I’ll take some better photos (especially once I get the filter running), but in the meantime I’ll start doing some research on Kaiseri.
