Well its been long enough. Time for me to show how I have my sals setup, and a few pics of them. Sorry pics stink because the lighting in the room is terrible....but it keeps them at 72 degrees so I can't complain otherwise. Anyways any criticisms will be listened too because I want the best for my guys. Currently feeding blackworms, FF, and sprintails. I am feeding 6 days a week, as they are not leaving any leftovers. Still hunting for pintip crixs....The container they are in is 18'' x 12''. As they grow bigger I will upgrade....:D

I like your setup for these guys. It looks like they are off to a great start and showing a bit of color. I really like the idea for small PVC pieces.

I assume the clear tray is to help them get in and out of the water dish. Do you place the blackworms on there as well? Also is that 100% coco fiber with some moss on top?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
