Glad to see this female is laying eggs. I've had this group for sometime now. And after a 35 day cooling in the fridge at 42 degrees F, I see a female laying eggs. Didn't see males courting but I'm sure they did.

I've not seen any courting from my H. orientalis group, either, but am finding eggs nonetheless. Most are fuzzy, though, which is a huge frustration... Best of luck with yours!

Here's a update. Many are hatched and starting to eat.

Great news! Despite seeing so many fuzzy eggs in my tank I also saw quite a few larvae swimming around when I did a water change over the weekend!

Hello, just a quick question about the 35 day refrigerating. How did you monitor the temps and did you do water changes everyday? Did you feed them a ton before putting them in? I'm curious because I have always wanted to try this, but have been afraid that I might lose my newts.

Well my refrigerator is set to a certain temp and I didn't need to monitor temps. Feeding was normal previous to the cooling. I feed them every few days, worms and black worms. I really didn't do anything special besides putting them in a container with little water and a rock that bike the surface of the water, in case they wanted to get terrestrial. That's it.
