cynops orientalis not eating

my male fire bellied newt is not eating at all! i have been trying to feed him small waxworms,mealworms,and pinheads. my female hoggen them down. im not sure if it has something to do with breedingor maybe hes just wierd. but woulp you all please help me with this problem?i dont want my buddy to diei will also check out caudata culture to see if there is anything there on it. he hasnt eaten barely at all since haloween. ive taken them out of hibernation because of this. please help me out.

Have you tried small earthworms? They may lead to better feeding results. What condition is your newt in.

shane, how old is your newt? do you know?, how big is it?
you might want to try keeping it aquatically, give it a small island to rest on though.
it may be easier to feed this way, once its skin adapts to aquatic life

first Q= he is about 4 inches long. and other than not eating hes pretty healthy.


second Q= he is full grown and he ate a tiny earthworm last night . to be specific he is about 3 years old. if i left any out ill edit it in

When you say "taken them out of hibernation" what temperature are they now?

probably around 65-70 degrees F

i really dont know? i just guessed on his size. im not very good with numbers. i dont know for sure what a true pinhead looks like. umm they were at around 55-65 degrees(F). if you know of anywhere around liberty or gladstone that sells blackworms please PM me about it.

i had this problem with a cynops orientals, was not accepting anything, i eventually as a last resort put frozen mosquito larvee in the tank and they went mad for it
