D to Pachytriton archospotus

Why do you think that P. archospotus is actually Pachytriton D? This new species does not look like, nor in colour as in size, to the P. "D" that I saw some years ago.
 
Cool, I love taxonomy and I have been interested in the genus for awhile, thanks for posting.
 
Very large, I'd say between 25 and 30 cm, almost rusty-metal, orange coloured. A bit like the yet to be described Paramesotriton species.

Its difficult to ID without locality data! I'm still not sure if the salamanders from Hunan are the old "D".
