Two of my beautiful axolotls -- Pinky twirling about showing off, and Fegg Hayes, hurtling at break-neck speed to the top of the tank. If you look really hard at these terrible pictures, you can see that one of his gill "filaments" is forked. Pretty special eh?

Hehe Optimist,

Thanks for sharing the delightful photos. The dancing leucistic is very endearing. I can't really find the axolotl in the second picture! It is very well camouflaged i think.

Cheers

He's the dark smudge just to left of centre. They are not the most obliging of photographic subjects are they?

Ooh i thought it was a tangle of bloodworms or tubifex worms..

Optimist - Pinky is absolutely beautiful, looks so inquisitive (and is a lovely color - I am hoping to get one in a similar colour soon). Unfortuantely, even after you saying where in the photo your other axie is, I still can't see him!

Thanks Big A Little A. Pinky always makes an effort to put on a bit of a show every time I pass the tank, in the hopes that they will be rewarded with a big fat earth worm. I can see that Fegg Hayes will have to be photographed again, when he's in a less volatile frame of mind, so that people can admire his forked gills.

xD hahaha oh white one looks so cute! i bet he is very curious ! nice photos!

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
