Daphnia for new born axolotls?

I am unsure what I am going to feed my baby axolotls once they hatch. What are the pros and cons of using Daphnia?

Pro daphnia will live in freshwater in till eaten, if you keep culture going you have free food.
Cons some say hard to keep culture going, takes more money and space than bbs. I have heard can lose whole culture for no apparent reason.
