Hi, I am worried about my axolotls.
It is currently winter for my, so the water is under 20*C and I clean the water and feed them every second day. I feed them axolotl pellets and raw chicken.
But my axolotls (leucistic) have dark red bits growing in their gills and i wonder if i should be worried?

(Ignore the red circle please that is something else on my baby i am trying to figure out).
It has red stringy bits towards the top of his gills, should I be worried about this? They have been there a while and I have had them for nearly 18 months now.

I'm no expert but it looks like a parasite to me. Maybe rethink the raw chicken? I would contact an amphibian vet, unless others have some treatment suggestions.

Those are little blood vessels that have grown outside of the skin - nothing to worry about.
I would also ask you to stop feeding chicken to your axie - worms, pellets, insect larvae are all better foods for them.
