I just noticed my filter isn't working I havent been home since early this morning so it could have stopped last night. The motor is running, but it isnt sucking up any water. It's pretty old.
I plan on going to get a new one as soon as the shops open tomorrow. Will Mugatu be okay without a filter for the night? Im kind of freaked out.

yes one night will be fine.

Are you sure it's not got uneaten food/waste/sand blocking it where the water sucks in?

If not, then when you add your new filter to the tank leave the old filter in there (or the filter media from it) for a few weeks, as it has established bacteria on it.

yes, I ran water through the tube that sucks up the water and it went through fine. Where should I leave the old filter things when I get the new one?

lots of times their is just a clog somewhere in the filter. Depending on what type it is I'd try taking the impeller out and cleaning it. Some of my filters need to be taken apart and cleaned a couple times a year. It isn't verry difficult. I do wind up tossing filters now and then but most of the time they just need a good cleaning.
