my axolotl got attacked by my other axolotl and i’m not sure if i should remove the skin or let it full off on its own?! it’s looking a bit red today but i’m guessing that probably bruising and healing

While I cannot look at the photo because of my extremely squeamish stomach, I would say just keep an eye on it and definitely separate your axolotls. Most pet stores sell an aquarium divider, you just gotta find the right size. Maybe order one if need be. I'm so sorry about your little guy, that's horrible.

yes it’s not pretty too look at! i’ve put a divider in and looking for a new tank! thank you

lol it's ok and yes, keep an eye on it and make sure no one else is messing with it. If your axolotl is like messing with it themselves, you may want to give them something to eat to calm them down or focus their attention elsewhere.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
