From my last post I am new to owning a newt, hes in half water and half land he like the land more. Short story, i dint think he's eating, he is acting like he's got no energy at all and is hardly moving. I personally don't feel like this is normal, I just finished work today and found a slimey substance in his tank, like a blob not sure if poop or something. Ill post a picture and can anybody give me advice on how they usually act?. I am silly for not really knowing much about them before I took him home but he was litterly dumped in my work to die and I wanted him to have a awsome life, im learning as I go. But from what I can tell from reading some threads is that my little lad isn't acting normal and I'm worried he isn't okay, please please any advice is greatly appreciated 🙏

I know you're worried, but starting multiple threads about the same issue won't help you get more answers. Focus on your first/main thread. I'd suggest deleting this thread.

Good luck.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
