Desmognathus taxonomy

I know that Desmognathus sp. taxonomy is a mess, but does anyone know if D. carolinensis is recognized as a species anymore?

According to Guide and Reference to the Amphibians of Eastern and Central North America (North of Mexico) by R.D. Bartlett and Patricia P. Bartlett, copyright: 2006, Desmognathus carolinensis is a valid species, there is also a photo of it in this book.

These websites have pictures of them:

Oh and one more:

I'm not sure why its not a hyperlink, just copy paste it into the address bar.

It seems to be really a good species, with even 2 populations close to the species level (Petranka, Highton, Tilley). We bred it twice in captivity, and one thing strange is that this species seems to be not agressive at all, which is not the case for the vast majority of Desmognathus, including other species of the "ochrophaeus complex".

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
