the safest way i can think of is to soak it in boiling water (make sure no animals attached!!), but why should you use any wood which you think should be disinfected?
What's in your back yard logs probably depends on what's in that yard... However, normal healthy animals have ways to defend themselves from naturally occuring harm. Be very ware not to present them with un-natural harm resulting from disinfection procedures/chemicals. What do you think?
i freeze it after a day under water.
A friend of mine boils it....it works really well but kinda takes all the tanins away....i like to have a bit of tanins in my water that´s why i just freeze it.
You can bake it in a regular oven on low heat. Be aware that baking has some risk of causing an explosion if you bake certain kinds of rocks - but for wood, I don't think that would be a problem.
once i tryed and i had to boyled maybe 3 times about 15 minutes each, tmep??? i just putit on the mid-high temperature, and still got a very dark color in the water, but good luck
color will come every time you boiled, if you really dont want to get any colour you have to try for about a month boiling it with water changes very constantly, but then your wood would be white too
