This is my first post here, so I apologize if it doesn’t follow the rules. I am an Environmental Science student and I have recently enjoyed identifying the salamanders in my local waters after participating in a few amphibian studies. I have been struggling with distinguishing Rough-skinned Newt (Taricha granulosa) larvae from Northwestern Salamander (Ambystoma gracile) larvae. I have dug through every old species key I can find on the internet and I have a good idea of the differences I’m looking for, but they are so subtle I still have trouble identifying many larvae I find. Hopefully someone here can ID these photos and point out something im missing. Any tips of any kind are greatly appreciated!
