I mean... if u have two couples of axolotl, and both have reproduced, is it possible to split the couples and change partners, and still achieve reproduction?

or do they choose a single partner?

thanks!

My golden female has bred with both males so i don't think that they choose one partner. Both spawning's happened within 48 hours of introducing the males :p...so...i doubt it lol

As far as I know, it's polygamy all around! haha.. unless they're forced into monogamy by only having 1 tankmate....

Perfect! Thank you for your answers! This si exactly what I wanted to know! :D

I think some females may be fussy on mate selection. I had two gravid females in with a small golden male for weeks and they didn't lay despite his attentions, I put them both back in with a large wild type male and they spawned within a couple of days. I doubt if the males are that fussy, we generally are not.
