Do sals get lonely?

A few weeks ago i got my first fire salamander. She is two years old and im delighted i got her. Recently my girlfriend said i should get another salamander to keep her company as she might get lonely and bored. So my question is do salamanders prefer to be alone or do they prefer to be in pairs?

They don´t care. Caudates are not social creatures, they barely interact with each other except for reproductive reasons. You may find some people who say they do enjoy being kept in groups, and although it is certainly possible, with no negative effects (in the case of S.salamandra), it is absolutely NOT necessary. Your salamander will live a happy life wether it is alone or not.

And to add an unneeded aside to Azhael's excellent answer....It's my experience that aside from breeding most Herps in general see other animals as nothing more than competition for space and food.
