Hi friends, just wondering at about what age are these guys supposed to stop growing. I read somewhere that sexual maturity was around 2 years but i think my buddy is still growing and he is about 2.5 years old. Anybody out there have one that is still growing after 2.5 years???

Axolotls don't really stop growing. Obviously their growth rate diminishes drastically when they reach adulthood, but they will keep growing.

I think the size that their growth rates slow varies per axie also, due to diet, water conditions, genetics, etc. They typically reach up to around 30cm but there have been a few people post on here with axies that have reached 32cm :) There's a post somewhere asking what size peoples' axies are, there might be something of interest on there :) http://www.caudata.org/forum/f46-be...ee-all/75255-how-big-your-adult-axolotls.html

My oldest male , who is approx 6 years old is still growing. Its a very slow growth. I suspect its the tail that seems to do the most growing. I measured him a few months ago as my father was adamant that this axolotl was not close to a foot long...he was shocked that from nose to tail he is now 33cm's.
