Some people tell that using water filtration with X. laevis is a kind of stress for them as the frogs usually inhabit standing water ponds. I don't have any filter and my ground gets dirty very quick leading to unpleasant water changes so I'm thinking of getting one. What would you recommend me? The tank is 50 L, two frogs. And if you filtrate - what kind of filter do you use?

I'm would definatley use filteration if I was you. ACF's can be very messy. I'm not sure if that tank is big enough for them both. Try using a spray bar to settle the water a bit or facing the outlet bit against the glass.

I use air operated sponge filters for my aquatic amphibians, they're easily moved from place to place and designs are available with vertical discharge to minimise current for species that prefer quieter conditions. I previously used undergravel filtration but that can lead to compromises between substrates and risks of impaction with some animals.

If your laevis are large, an internal power filter connected to a spraybar would be a good silent alternative.

Whatever filter you use, a little current is much less stressful than exposure to ammonia or nitrite..
