I know most everyone recommends no fish in with axolotls except feeders, and there's a list of things that have caused problems- suckers, goldfish, snails, etc. . .

Has anyone ever put a dojo loach in with their axies, or other amphibians? When I was a kid I had a 55 gallon paludarium with firebelly newts & a dojo loach and never had a problem with it. The only reason I eventually lost animals was because of some filtration issues. The loach lived with the newts for at least 6 or 8 years and there was never any nipping or anything like that.

Has anyone else put a dojo loach in with axolotls? Could this be the rare fish that would do fine with them? Cold water, extremely peaceful, and too big for the axolotls to bother sounds like a good combo to me. . .

Too big for them to eat doesnt keep them from trying. Unless you can find one that is upwards of about 13", I wouldnt even think about trying it. I wouldnt do it at all, but unless its at least that big, I wouldnt even think about it.
