Downsizing cynops tank

Hi, not posted here for years, had to start a new account!

Am moving to the opposite end of the country in a few months and want to downsize my Cynops orientalis
tank.

It's currently 24"*12"(*18" deep) with about 9" of water and 3 residents. What is the smallest setup I could safely adopt?? (dimensions in inches would be helpful)

I'll try and post a pic of the current setup:

The 3 could live quite well in a 10-gallon tank (20x10x10 inches). If the tank were given very careful maintenance, they could be kept in a 5-gallon tank (16x8x10).

Hi Paul, I have two fire-bellies (one adult and one juv.)

I have them in a five gallon right now with the water a bit low for the young one, but if it were all adults I think they would be "okay" in a five gallon. Like Jennifer said, it would require maintenance on a regular schedule.

If you've got the room, though, I would definitely say to go with a ten gallon. It's a little larger, but you wouldn't have to monitor it quite so closely. Good luck!
