Beautiful animal, must be nice to find an andersoni in the wild.

Did you make any habitat photos?

Wow Tim , i'm really envious! your so lucky to be able to see such species in their native habitat

Hi Mark. Well, truth be told, I didn't really take many habitat photos in keeping with a promise I made not to reveal too much in a public forum about the habitat of this endangered species. I simply don't know enough to offer any analysis anyway.

In any case, they're quite hard to find, even for an experienced herper. They're basically found under piles of leaves and logs, as might be expected, but only in certain areas -- not in others where somebody inexperienced, like me, might expect them to be. I found none myself

What I can say is that one major problem encountered in searching for them is that in the forest, giant spider webs are strewn every few feet it seems -- and proceeding forward is pretty hideous business. Not to forget to mention the need to keep an eye out for Habu pit vipers

Hi Andy. Yes, it's nice. I wish I had fewer limitations on time and funds that would allow me to do it more often. I do hope to make a trip to the Ryukyu Islands an annual thing though.
