Hi everyone. I've just had an upsetting conversation with a friend who had noticed an axolotl in Maidenhead Aquatics on Warren Road in Woodingdean. It was (usual story) being kept with a lot of fish and had all of it's gills bitten off and was clearly on it's last legs. Being quite shy my friend didn't want to confront the shop staff, but I just called them to enquire about it. They said it was sold this morning and denied that there was anything wrong with its condition. I know from when I was originally looking for an axolotl to buy that they charge £45 each for them so I doubt that their story is true :(

The reason for this post is
a) please don't sell your baby axolotls to this shop as they have no regard for their welfare
and
b) if by any chance anybody on here did happen to rescue this unfortunate axolotl can you please let me know so I can stop worrying! I am in Brighton and don't drive so can't easily check the situation myself.

Thanks x

Hello! was it a beautiful yellow Axie?
If so I bought her a little over a week ago!
They haven't had any in after. We keep going in to check it out.
She was in a tank with a large fish (type thing). It didn't look very pleasant. Every time we went in, she was in the same corner.
Here is a picture of her, in her new home. We're hoping her gills will grow back :)

It is pretty incredible! Couldn't believe it when I read it, I knew I had to reply!

Maidenhead was horrific :(

Inca seems to of setteled in well and has been enjoying herself! she's eating and plays with her moss balls a lot!

Hopefully I will be able to find her a tank mate soon (another axie) looking for a black one for her.

(note: the alien figure in the tank in the picture. She sits next to it a lot.)

I can't believe i didn't see this! thanks so much for replying. I will tell my friend straight away.
I love this forum!!

I just called the family who told me about her and they are all so happy about this too! We were all so certain she must have died and that I was being fobbed off! She's beautiful. :D :D :D
