Hi I made this hammock type small land area. It was fast and cheap. I hade some plastic mesh from Walmart fabric department it was $2.50. I sandwiched to of them together put java moss in it . To make a carpet of Java moss. It was to big this piece was left over. So I made this hammock with two suction cups and fishing line covered with moss

This is clever! I like this! Make sure you have a good lid though; whenever I have land next to the wall of the tank I think it just makes it easier for them to escape.

I have done something similar where I tied java moss on to a piece of styrofoam with fishing line and had a little floating island.

Sorry that was supposed to say small land area. Your wright about having a good cover. I do have a good cover because my little ones are always on the glass. This hammock won't hold a lot of weight either.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
