I have a new Axolotl because I thought my other one needed company. This is almost the second week in quarantine for the new one! But something is wrong, he eats but the food is passing throughout without being process. Bloodworms are not being process they are in the original form when he poo. Today I gave him two earthworms and the pass through too without processing. He is very small and all ready when he came he has two big and pronounce bumps between the back legs. I wonder if is normal or not. Everything is ok with water and temperature so I wondered if he is going to die in the end because even if he today accepted the earthworms, he is not taking nutriments from the food. I include to pictures I hope you see them and tell me if he can be better or not.

He is 18 cm. I saw him this week poo.. But today I didn't but I supposed he vomit and poo because it was different. I was not at home today so I am not sure. The other times he poo the hole food. He has only accepted the bloodworms since he came home with me and every time I gave earthworms he take them in and rejected them directly!

Judging from his backside, those bumps just seem to indicate that he's an adult male.

Now onto some questions:
Have you performed a water test recently? What are the values? (pH, Ni, Na, etc)
What is the water temperature?
Is the tank he's in cycled or not?
How often do you change the water? (and how much of the water do you change)

Hi there,

Sometimes when mine poops there is still whole bloodworms in there. It could be that he doesn't need the nutrition therefore his body isn't digesting it. I seem to have a good feeding balance now and he's digesting his food properly. How often do you feed him?

Mine has also vomited before and the food came out whole. You need to keep a close eye on him and see if he's pooping. Has he ever been kept on gravel? If he has it could be impaction like Tephra said.

I am changing the water every day and about 75%. 19 degrees around the temperature and the water levels are with not ammonia, no nitrite or nitrate is coming up.
He start eaten every second day and he poops the same day after two hours. Because that I gave him everyday with same results and know looking if I give or not and how much. I should try to calm and no stress him out. I supposed he was a male but the bumps are so pronounce that I though it could be the reason.
I am going to observe him much better and try to help him with the food issue.

I don't know is he was or not in gravel. Not pet shops have this kind of animals. So I cannot se the real conditions or ask, sorry
