I am looking into buying axolotl pellets for Stellios, from Eds Fly Meat.

For those who use them, are they soft? Do they sink? Are they good to use as a staple along with red wigglers? (Will they rot if it takes a while to go through them? Keep in fridge?)

At the moment, he's a juvie and gets 2 black soldier fly larva per day, with half to 3/4 of a cube of blood worms or mysis shrimp. (He's not big on the shrimp and stopped eating his newt pellets.) I will do red wigglers when the colony breeds.

Are Hikari's Sinking Carnivore Pellets a suitable option as well? Or the HBH Salamander Newt Bites?

My only options are HBH Salamander and Newt pellets (soft) or the Hikari ones. I contacted Fly Meat and they won't ship to Canada. :(

Any experience with HBH or Hikari?

I found these today!!! They have BSFL which he LOVES, plus salmon, so I think they would be ok. There's a bit of potato and pea meal, but the larva and fish are the first ingredients.

Hm, I haven't heard of any of those. If you go on ebay there is specific food called "axolotl sinking pellets food" (a bit expensive) but I am glad you found one your axolotl enjoys.

Just make sure they are not too high in fat/etc. ^
