I'm hoping that the one in the first picture is going to be an interesting color, but I guess we'll see! :D

I've been so fascinated by the eggs developing, but unfortunately I have no macro lens. Until today, clear pictures were impossible (though I couldn't help but try!)

First hatchling!! I found it this morning, so it must have hatched while I was asleep!! :D

It's very light, so I'm quite curious about what color it will turn out to be.

Nice! Your hatchling is so cute. I can't wait to order my axies this week.

Thanks! Good luck with your new axies! Be sure to post pictures for us.

I now have four hatchlings!! The last one seems to have hatched too early though, as it's been slightly behind the others. I've read on here that it probably won't survive. :( I guess we'll see, hopefully it's just small.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
