only 1 dud in my batch (out of 14), which is decent imo,

some of mine seem almost ready to hatch, where as others are only just getting to form gills/start wriggling, pics up later when i can find the cable for my other camera

I can't wait to be an axie mummy

I have 2 I think, received them this morning Some of mine look close to hatching too where as others are just starting to develop

And, the best photo I could get of a massive, bizarre dud, just for anyone who's interested (29/03/11) It's the grey patch just underneath the bubble, which strangely looks like a very large, grey, fuzzy version of the nicely progressing guys in the previous photo! -

I've got a couple of look to have been developing but are fuzzy now duds as well Poor little things.
The rest are looking really good though :happy: and I am so glad all the re-homed ones are doing so well too. YAY!!!!!

I had one break free from it's egg yesterday afternoon when I moved some out of the way silly little thing. It was 9mm long but was almost dead with it's back arched back ans stomach misshapen this morning, I thought it would be so I euthanased it . Too soon for them to hatch just yet. I do have a few from the warmer lot that are VERY wiggly today and look like they are trying to get out can't they wait a few more days for that trick? It's only been 11 days! Last lot started hatching at the end of day 12.

We're getting close now :happy: can't wait till you're all posting pics of your babies and not their eggs

OK it's started. I have 18 hatched and 15 of those are looking like good, well formed larva. only 3 so far that look to not quite be formed right or enough but have decided to hatch

Every time I go out there, there's more out of their eggs. Won't be long now guys :happy:
Needless to say I have dug the shrimp hatchery out in a hurry today and have a very small batch brewing. Took a couple of days for them to start eating last time so we'll see how we go.

Wow! Do they wriggle around? They look so interesting but so fragile. I think I'd be terrified rearing axolotl eggs. How's the experience been so far? =]

It's been surprising, interesting + quick, but I've been just 1 word - impatient
Since my friend's axies are being so picky when it comes to feeding, I bought some waxworms + they've just arrived, so I've offered them all round - why have I never seen it mentioned that they float?!
I had missed 1 egg attached to the filter + was going to leave it there, but it has developed really well + I didn't want it to become axie fodder, so have had another root around in my axie tank - found 5 developing well (a lot better than mine in the kitchen!) + 1 dud -

They are a lot more detailed than the others, which my camera isn't good enough to capture, but you can see the size difference (the new 1s are the 5 in the top left corner) 3 are also lot paler than the kitchen guys!

Would I be able to tell by now if any were going to be the white / golden morphs?
I know the exact morph won't be until a little while after they've hatched, but not sure when the general colour would show it's self - guessng it would've happened by now though (since Mummy was a wild type, the eggs were all dark, but could they still lighten up a lot yet?)

Also, what sort of length are they likely to be at 2 months old?

I've not raised wild eggs so not sure if they lighten later and the color becomes more clear, sorry BUT I do have 70ish 2 and a bit month olds right now. The Wilds that I let run free range in a large tank were a good 7-8cm at 2 moths and the ones I kept in more cramped quarters grew much slower and were almost an inch shorter @ 2 months. In the last week though since I got them all into another large tank the smaller ones have grown really fast and had halved the length gap in the first week.

I found the wilds grew the fastest then the Melanoids at pretty much the same rate and the goldens and hypermelanoids grew slower than the others but at much the same rate as each other.
