Hello everyone!
I have had my beloved axolotl, Little Joe, for 7 months now; he is about 1 year old and has clearly decided to be a male
He is doing great, but now that spring is here, I worry about keeping his tank cool enough as the weather starts to warm up. We've been able to keep the water between 65-68 degrees (according to the thermometer in the tank) using a fan, but it gets pretty hot and humid in NYC starting as early as May, so I went ahead and bought an Aqua Euro 1/13 chiller.
This is not only our first axolotl but our first aquarium ever, so I'm trying my best to learn about all of this but I find it very confusing! I read that the best thing to do is to set the chiller up so that the water flows from the canister filter into the chiller and then back out into the tank. We have a 10L tank and the Eheim 2213 canister filter. Does anyone have any experience running the Eheim 2213 filter with the Aqua Euro 1/13 chiller? I am some fears that it may not be powerful enough for the chiller, but am a bit at a loss as to what else to do.
Also, I know that the 10L tank is too little for our guy--the pet store person had said 1 axolotl only needs 10L tank so that's what we set up--it was only after reading posts on here that I realized a 20L tank would be better suited for him! So if the aquarium store ever opens again in these strange times then we're going to upgrade, and I will probably post another question asking about how to do that. But we're doing our best to keep the 10L tank clean and cool for him, for now.
Thank you so much for reading and for any help you can provide!
