I've got three other tiger salamanders in different enclosures and they're all doing great, I've never had a problem like this. Everyone knows that tigers are voracious eaters that will snap up anything that moves. Not this one! From the moment I bought her, she's given me trouble. I've never gotten her to willingly snap at food wagged in front of her face. She just doesn't exhibit a snapping reflex at all. I did manage to get her to eat a few crickets, but that was it. She won't even eat those anymore. I've had her since March and she's eaten maybe four or five crickets for me. She refuses earthworms completely, which is difficult because I prefer an earthworm based diet.
To top it off, lately she's been doing this. Running laps around her enclosure scratching frantically against her head and neck.
I thought perhaps she was dehydrated and suffering from stuck shed. She's never tried to bury herself in the substrate or tuck herself into a hide. She just sits on the surface at all times. So I stuck her in a bin of water in hopes that I could re-hydrate her with a soak. So far, no luck. She's still scratching. Still hasn't shed. Still won't eat a bite.
I'm at a loss. This poor animal is giving me gray hair.
