i woke up this morning to find a note from my mum next to my bed telling me that my dad had found Nala in the rumpus room on the floor. she somehow managed to get out of her container(no idea how, the water level wasnt close to the top of the container) (by the way she's in a container because her tank is cycling)and crawled about 1.5mtrs. the poor dear is so beaten up. she crawled from our laundry which isnt tiled at the moment its only a cement floor! she has 2 patches on her side with none of her slime coat left on those areas, her tummy and her chin have no slim coat on them either, she's a bit unstable and very stressed. she's torn her tail and some of the skin is peeling. i'm going to try and find..stress coat is it? i think i read thats what i should put in there? Is there anything specific i should look for in the product? i've never had this happen before.
She's in fresh water and has been moved to a cooler part of the house where its also quiet dark. i dont want to put her in the fridge, my other axie passed when i put her in the fridge and i'm just a bit worried about doing it again.
Please help me to help her.
I'm not having a very good year with axies..

Stress coat is good. It contains aloe (as well as a dechlorinator) and it will help her with the slime coat. If you can't find any, then try putting her in a quarter strength salt bath for a few hours. If she's kept cool and dark, and doesn't show any signs of illness or severe stress, I think she'll be okay without going into the fridge.

Hi Hailz,

I've got stress coat at home and it's great! You can usually find it in pet stores now days..I noticed that most of my locals (like pet pontoon pet stores) stock it and most aquarium shops. Another great place to look is the markets.

i went to get the stress coat, but didnt have enough money and my card was at home, so i went home to get it and found that nala had passed. It all happened so suddenly, she was so healthy and happy then this accident happened and it was just to much for her. Her tummy and "girly area" cant think of the name at the moment was severly damaged, she'd cut it open. i think though it was probably better for her to pass now then for her to be in alot of pain for days. i feel so terrible...i think after my babies are gone, i'll just hang on to the one, and then thats it.Maybe when i have more time and can set myself up a bit better.

My axolotl got away and flew into the cat food. He tore his tail and some slime coating came off so I put some stress coat in his water and he came right.

oh no! sorry for your loss Hailz, you have had a bad luck streak with them havent you. lets hope its passed now.
i was at work the other day and got told by a person i work with that his axies had jumped out of their container and one was all dried up on the floor flapping around and the other was on the bed flapping around. he said one had crawled across his room and they must have been out for a few hours at least! he left them for a while cause he thought they were dead (no idea why he left them) and then he saw one move. he put them back in their containers and now theyre fine! i couldnt beleive it, especially when one was all dried up!

Hailz I feel so bad for you...Don't lose heart, its not your doing, sometimes things happen just because they happen.

If it's any consolation your a great axie mum! Look at how well you've done with the babies.

Yeah mine died a few days ago too. It's not your fault animals can do some silly things. Don't ever stop loving the little blighters though.

Oh Hailz,sorry hun,you have had a rough run of it!Suzanne is right though,you have done well with your babies and should be proud of that,it's not easy.I'm sure Nala is in axie heaven where worms just pop up everywhere,the water is always the perfect temperature,and there's a lump of java moss for all

. I'm going to hang on to one of the babies and see how i go with him(he's just to cute to let go), i'm just a bit frightened of bringing another one home and something bad happening again.. i think i'll just wait till the new year and see how things go. but thank you all so much for your kind words
