Tank is cycled! I added some sea shells after I took the pictures. My PH is a little low from the plants being in the water. I added waste from my Axolotls buckets and containers which speeded up the cycling, and the plants also helped

So far my tank houses:
-Grimace Gargamel, male (Black Melanoid)
-Moon Cookie, female (White with black eyes)
-Nibbles, female ( gray wild type yet to be renamed)
-Bobo, sex unknown (gold albino)

Pretty soon I'll get some fish breeding nets and add in my two babies,

Little Boots (white with Black eyes)
Bort (Gold Albino)

As they are still too small to be with the big boys and girls yet.

I also added some curly Dracaena (lucky Bamboo) last weekend and some Aponogeton bulbs which are starting to sprout

Turns out I got a few mystery plant buds in with the duck weed which sprouted roots, so I ended up with some free plants

some are still floatng at the top while I planted one and it is doing very nicely
happy.gif
. All other plants are doing very well and the red plant is taking on some orange-green tops, it looks so pretty! Some of the leaves at the base of the plant were damaged when it was bagged at the store. They have since rotted off and new ones and roots are starting to grow. I hope this plant stays alive for a long time I just love it

Let me know what you guys think!

Wow! rheann it looks great! They seriously look like they're doing some real exploration!

I can't believe your tank cycled soooo quickly! That's amazing!

Can't wait to see more pics!

What are the names of the plants you have? By the way, GREAT TANK!

Thanks Casey, Thanks Jordan
happy.gif

Jordan - the name of my plants are:

Ludwigia repens - Big red plant
Foxtail, Myriophyllum - stemy plants in the corner
Aponogeton - bulbs that will sprout into long grassy plants
Dracaena - curly bamboo shoots
Java Moss - attached to root and rock
Duck weed - floats at the top covers the tank nicely, has to be thinned out from time to time
Mystery plants - several types, not sure yet what type but may possibly be, Water Sprite, Hygrophila, or something else. The leaves and stems are still too small to tell on these, but they are growing fast and have pretty good sized roots for little plants

The tank is pretty bare now, but the Aponogeton should be growing a pretty good size in several weeks. The plant buds are growing very fast, and I'll add a few more plants in soon. I just love my Axolotls being in the tank

with ur plants do u have to ancor them or just put em straight into the sand ?

Thanks Rob

None of them had any root systems when I planted them, but now the Foxtail has roots and also the Ludwigia repens also has a nice root system setting in... and the wonderful odd part about the roots is that it seems since last night I put my Axolotls in, that more roots have decided to show up. It's really neat how fast plants can grow.
happy.gif
Also the plants seem to be a bit taller. I had no idea that plants grew so fast. Maybe it is just my imagination lol. Too much lack of sleep!

Looks beautiful, how long is the tank and how big are your axies?

Thanks Si

My tank is 4 feet long, very big, and my Axies are I think full grown, but they might get a little bigger. There is room in the tank for 6 adult Axolotls.

i was checking plants out in the local aquarium shop today and and asked for some advise on what plants to get and i told him i was hoping to keep waster around 16-18c and he told me i can only get a couple of plants that will grow properly in these temps
i'm thinking it might be dodgy advise...
cause urs seem to be doing good....
i ended up getting some moss stuff "think java moss" and poked it into holes in a stump thing i got and some into the fake root at the rear of tank and he gave me some duck weed but my spraybar seems to be keeping it all seperated and pushing it down, maybee i need more so it clumps ?

WOW Rheann!!! I was only just wondering yesterday whether i could put my lucky bamboo in my tank. It looks great so l might just do that!!
Lucky bamboo is so fun! !
Nice setup, yours axies look very happy. Ive never seen a gray one before. . so cute! ! I WANT ONE!

Good idea with the bamboo Rheann. I didn't know it would grow underwater like that.

Could be the start of a new trend! Lol!

Rheann,

Personally, the red lugwigia seems to do better in a more acidic water. It wusually dies in the first 4 months, and one day it will be fine and the next it will be rotten and strewn across the bottom..

Btw I bet u have had many peopl ask you this but, how big is your tank, in galloens..

~John

Thanks again for the comments guys

The Dracaena is doing very nicely
happy.gif
. There is some speculations as that the plants won't do very well in colder waters, but I've had Dracaena in my tanks before and it always seems to do just fine. It actually seems to do better completely submerged under water than it would in a flower pot, or at least this is the case for me lol.

The Ludwigia is so far doing very well, but I'm sure I'll have to eventually deal with some plant loss lol.

My tank is 60 gallons, big enough for 6 Axolotls, just perfect for the 6 I have. I have yet to put two in because they are still too small and could get eaten.

I'm going to get some more plants soon and my bulbs are sprouting nicely! I'll post more pictures when I get more plants in
