expanding foam toxicity

I am currently working on a new viv project with a glass separation. I am planning to "glue" some corck bark to the separation and fill the cavity created with expending foam so I do not create a bacterial nursery...

The expending foam I found at the local diy shop is Polycell Expending Foam, which is labelled as an irritant. I am wondering of the safety of using it in my viv. I guess the irritant effected is for the uncured product, that then becomes inert once cured, am I right to believe that? Will it be safe once cured?

Yes, it is the uncured product which is an irritant. During curing, it produces a polyurethane polymer, which should be inert & safe. A friend of mine makes masks using expanding foam, and hasn't had any skin problems from wearing them...

You should make sure that it's throughly aired and washed to get rid of any residues, though.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
