Eyes white, gills shriveled in 24hrs

Checked him this morning, can't tell if he's dead or not without touching the poor bugger, couldn't bring myself to do it.

How frequently do their gills flex when they're in the fridge?

Oh thank goodness - the wife just told me she saw him breathe.

The container now holds one relieved-looking axie and two tremendous droppings.

Hopefully constipation was half/all the problem.

Time to go collect my sister's wormfarm and feed him proper, like.

thats good to hear!

i think it would most likely have been constipation. by saying breathe do you mean flick its gills?.

yeah - that little flexing motion, we assumed that meant respiration...until now.

From what I think i read sometime, it is kinda like they're breathing - they're moving fresh water over their gills and getting rid of the water they've already taken the oxygen from

Took him out of the fridge today, earlier than I'd planned but I thought he was unhappy in there, gills were bending forward. His eyes were almost back to normal so bit the bullet and took him out...

He seems quite and a little slow, mostly alright but periodically floating after gulping air. I really don't like the look of him all motionless and floaty.

Okay, so he picked up a bit, eyes went back to normal, gills still stunted, took a little food, spat some out...and the gills still had a slight whiteness to them, so I put some more Pimafix in the tank last night after changing the water.

This afternoon, he had thrown up a mealworm from a week-and-a-half ago, it was floating with some white goop on it.

His back is covered in a fine white downy stuff.

I've put him back in the fridge and will now do a bunch of reading on the site, guess that more pimafix and possibly a salt bath is in store this week.

yip, thats fine. id ditch the primafix and give salt a go, just sounds like fungus for now. ahhhh, your first bolus, looks like you axie gave you some puke for valentines day lol.

keep him in the fridge in conjunction with salt baths, nice low temps will keep him stress free for healing. good luck
