Went out and grabbed a fan from Walmart to hopefully cool my tank down, and had to make some modifications because the clip refused to stay in the angle I wanted. For anyone else who uses fans, does this look alright? It's suspended by strong fabric/rope, and isn't touching the fanblades. The only thing I'm really worried about is the water...What are your opinions on it?

I don't really like this, so It'll probably be changed before tonight. xP

lol, as long as it doesn't fall into the water. I'd feel more comfortable with a mesh cover over the top so you can just set it down on the cover. That's how I set mine up.

I didn't even think about that! I'll pick a screen up tomorrow, thanks.:)

i did this recently but it didnt seem to make much odds to the water temperature, i put a wet flannel on the outside of the tank on one side, and then directed the fan at that, seemed to drop temp buy more than placing it direct on to water

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
