I need to sort a real tank for the FBN well I was cleaning the tank and he wondered off (I kept an eye on him) boy can they climb ... my question I have very 'green fingers' and wanted to know if I can add orchids (possibly hanging?) to his new enclosure as they like moist environments (just not sat in water) and require little feeding to flower (will flower with none if the environment is right) he seems to like the idea... :) plus it will save me room to combine the two (i currently have over 30 orchids with 75% in flower at the mo)

There probably is a way to combine orchids and newts. You want to be sure that the newt cannot "get lost" in the orchid substrate, though. And what temperature do orchids need? Newts usually need to be as cold as possible.

orchids do not need to be warm though they can benifit from a bit of warm water on their roots every now and then - - substrate shouldnt be a problem as I can train some to grow on logs. my sister got really excited and suggest ome fly traps !!!! lol I told her to think about what she ust said!!!! I want well fed newts not plants !!! any how I have a couple of thimble orchids (ones that grow really small that I think will grow nicely in newt conditions so will give them a go.

It would be really cool to see some pictures once you get it all setup! :)
