Has anyone fed shrimp from the freezer section of the grocery store to their Axies? Theycome pre-cooked and I was thinking I could chop some up and see if the axolotls would do okay on them for some variety. Would there be any risk in doing this? Thanks.

Those shrimp are a marine species, which makes them unsuitable. The contents of salts and various elements are inadequate for a fresh water species like an axolotl. Not a natural food at all. Better stick to earthworms, those are REALLY good.

That is actually what the store was feeding one of mine before I purchased him. I wouldn't feed it to mine! It actually cost you more to feed something like that than to buy the worms! Stick to worms they really are a better option!

I used to feed mine these a long time ago as an occasional 'treat'. You need to rinse them very well as the shrimp will have a salted ice glaze around them. Its been a very long time since they have last had shrimp as they get earthworm as their staple.

I fed mine on frozen shrimp, prawn, mussel and squid outa those frozen seafood bags you can buy. You need to let them defrost, rinse well with boiled water from the kettle never just use tap water i rinse about 6 times in boiling water. Only fed this 1-2 times a week for a treat. Normally fed axel catfish pettles, tubiflex, chicken but must be sered, Gold fish and sometimes earth worm. i make sure his diet is varied as possiable to keep her happy :p
